Privacy and Editorial Policy

This page states how The Local Loop handles reader information and the editorial rules every guide is written under.

Reader privacy

The site is a set of static pages. It does not run advertising, does not use tracking scripts or analytics pixels, does not set cookies, and does not offer accounts, comments or newsletters. The only personal information the site receives is what a reader chooses to send to [email protected], and that mail is used only to reply and, where relevant, to correct a page. It is not sold, shared or added to a list.

Editorial policy

Articles are written in the third person and state their sources in the text: official program pages, archived records, encyclopedias and the published histories of the systems covered. Facts that change quickly, such as subsidy programs, are dated in the article and revisited when they are noticed to have moved. No person, credential, office or affiliation is invented; where the record is thin, the article says what is documented and stops there.

Historical material

Guides that describe defunct systems, including the Greater Houston Free-Net that once used this domain, describe those systems as they were recorded. The Local Loop is a new publication about that history, not a continuation of any earlier organization.

Corrections

Readers who find an error are asked to write to [email protected] with the page and the line in question. Substantive corrections are made in the article. The site's structure and coverage are described on the about page.
